Princess Kate looks beautiful!

This clematis caught my eye while browsing silver star vinery . It looks beautiful and interesting! I'm not sure how the plum color will fit into my colors but I think I'm gonna order it . I almost want to grow it with duchess of Albany so the colors can compliment each other ? What do you think of it ? Will you be trying this clematis?

Yay pretty petals !! Did you order anything else ? I hope we can compare photos once it gets going . We have a couple cold days coming up but after that I'll be scoping out its new home. Cannot wait ! I hope it lives up to her name

Ugh the thought of the next few days of freezing nights makes me sooooo aggravated. I'm sure I will lose all my new growth on roses and who knows what else. Yes I also ordered Giselle and Ville de Lyon. I picked up a couple bags of VDL at Fred's but wanted to add a bigger plant to them to make a fuller vine quicker. The ones from Fred's were tiny but just $4. Soooooo ready for this week to get gone!!!

Lily did you get yours? Mine was kinda small but a nice root system. Wondering if I need to grow it in a pot for a little while? Our last cold spell is gone and hoping and praying it's the last for the season so may try to plant the other clematis next week.

Mine won't be coming until the first week of April I believe! Even if it's small I plan on putting it in its hole right away. I still need to scope out my spots for them ! Did you buy anything special for it to climb on ? I was looking for a trellis for it .

I have a bunch of roses already on pillars so I think I'm going to Put her with one of them. I'm pillar and trellis and arbor poor. Lol.

Would you show what your pillars looks like ? I've never seen one (unless it's an obelisk ?)

i am also tapped out from my Rose orders and I started a new bed and that's adding up as well . I still have a few Rose "wants " for the season and I don't know how to finagle it ! :). I did luck out at a couple estate sales getting trellis for my front yard garden . Keeping my eye out for deals but I think princess Kate will hang on the fence with the other common folk ;)

Lol. Common folk. Love it!! I have a new deer fence up and was thinking about putting a few clematis on it in the sunny areas. I was looking at an evergreen one called Apple Blossom. Have you ever grown it?

I will shoot a couple pics tomorrow and post on here. They prob are obelisk and I just call them pillars. Lol.

Judy , I'm not sure how I missed this reply! The rose looks beautiful and I indeed have a couple pillars myself then. It's hard to find them sometimes ! The ones I have are too small for a climbing rose but do well for a clematis. When I had no idea what I was doing I used one to help along a new dawn that was ground awkwardly and as you can imagine new dawn ate it for lunch and I never saw it again and certainly didn't try to rescue it when we moved!

Anyway , yours are beautiful! Thanks for showing me what you use!

Lilyfinch, any updates on Kate? I just ordered from Silver Star Vinery. My final order for this year - I really mean it this time! Thanks ~

    Vanessa

Haha Vanessa ! I always say I'm done but then there's one more thing and that's it ! :)

she is growing a little slowly! But she is getting shade from some roses . My Margaret hunt is growing the fastest of the three I ordered. I have some compost almost ready so I'll hope that helps her along . I hope you enjoy what you ordered !! I was very pleased with my plants :)

I also have a Margaret Hunt (from my April SSV order) - doing very well so far. My justification is that they take a few years to get going, so why wait? I just need to find spots for them - which is my second favorite part - the first being the reading up on and ordering. Enjoy!

Just noticed today I have buds forming on Margaret hunt! And she's halfway up the trellis. What a great clematis!
