Hi Lucille, I regularly move potted climbers around. I wouldn't cut the long canes down as I think it will damage the overall look of the plant. I have a good-sized "dolly" or hand truck. I can usually get the pot on the dolly by wiggling it around and then roll it (not always easy) to the new location making sure I've cleared a good path so things don't get derailed along the way (I learned the hard way). I also put a stake in the middle of the pot and tie all the canes to it before moving. You could probably strap the whole plant to the dolly, too, by the container, but I haven't done that. If you absolutely can't do it and I understand if you can't - it can be a bear - I would ask someone to assist with using the dolly. I'm sure you have a nice person that would be happy to help you.

Yes, we use a dolly to move heavy pots all around the garden a lot. Towandaaz's post above explains it very well.

Today's the day. 4 Cl. Night Owls. Unfortunately the dolly idea did not work because the fabric pots are large and floppy. So I am having to actually lift them into and out of a wheelbarrow.
