It seems to match the dead leaves in the lower right of the photograph. What nearby plant did the dead bit of branch come from?

Ah, okay. That's from a redwood tree in the yard

That doesn't look like a redwood. Maybe Olive?

It definitely looks like a conifer of some sort, so perhaps not Olive?

Two more:

The last 2 pictures look like weeds to me. I get those and usually pull them out.

Thanks. @snuffles - I am in the SF Bay area, so probably too far away for an easy trade. Super easy to find the purple variety of the ice plant around here, though - that color seems to be planted just about everywhere.

the 2nd to last looks like stinging nettle, which really stings--very painful to touch.
