I mention her all the time! No issues here! She could be quite brash, but she did know her stuff!

That wasn't the issue, it had just gotten way too heated & was banned, yes, quite some time ago. I hadn't heard otherwise.

I guess I missed that (been here since 2013ish)! Kinda glad about it! I know the Hawaii grower wasn't allowed to be mentioned when I first joined. Ridiculous. Wish everyone could get along!

C. Noel (in case she still can't be mentioned). She is a former grower and has been retired for about 3 years now.

She is on Facebook. I've gotten some good advice from her. She is very helpful.

GW has been bought and sold a couple of times since the creator of GW, Spike, (I don't know his real name, but that is how he was known on GW) has swung his heavy - handed brand of authority here.

Spike had banned Christine M Burton, Carole Noel as well as others but he has been gone for at least 7, 8 or maybe even more years than that so none of those rules apply any longer.

If so, my deepest, sincere condolences. Your mother did a lot of valuable work for the Hoya communitiy, and her method of checking holotypes/herbariums against unnamed/unknown/incorrectly ID'd specimens inspired me to do the same with each plant I own. I do hope that work will be continued by many in the Hoya community, because, even now, the Genus is still a mess!

Very sad to hear, I had met her in her home in the Spring of 2010 and spent a day. She was so nice and generous with her time and plants. I learned a lot from her.

yes, very sad to hear. She was such an advocate for hoyas and getting the names correct...a good teacher too.

If anyone could direct me to her obituary I would be most appreciative.

Vickie Pierce, do you know if Christine Burton had wrote anything recently prior to her death? I was reading PSTheHoyan and her entries stopped a few years ago.

I didn't hear about The Hoyan until this post. What an abundance of information she left in her wake. Bless her for that and may she rest in Paradise with Hoyas all abound. Some do say it is the plant fallen from Heaven :) Her last entry is kind of sad, she sounds very tired and fed up with people trashing her property and sellers on eBay mislabeling plants with, in her words, "cutsie names."
