I'd have the cabinets painted -- white with black counters is quite classic, and then you could add new pulls to get a little more of your preferred look. Then I wouldn't do anything more until you've lived there at least a year -- the kitchen looks decent, so you won't have any hardship in waiting, and that will give you a chance to decide how you like working in the space before you commit to more expensive changes.

As for walls, just change the yellowish beige to a pale greige, which will help transform your space in the desired direction while accomodating the floors and remaining earth tones. Plus, if you decide later that you want a marble backsplash or marble-look counter, etc., you'll be in good shape to support that.

I agree to wait a while before doing anything with the cabinets or countertops. Painting the walls will be a big change. Personally, I like the cabinets and would leave them, but I would get some light countertops and a tile backsplash.

You could go bold instead of the everybody-has-white-and-gray kitchen. Green looks fantastic with wood tones. And painting the walls, removing the 4" back splash to replace with a super glass tile full back splash wouldn't take a lot of time or money.
