I'm not an expert gardener but my tomatoes have never benefited from being planted early. Seems the shock and cold just slows growth way down. I experimented last year by planting 2-3 weeks apart, all survived and produced but the later planting was so much easier since I didn't have to worry about cover and the usual leaf problems were minimal on the later plants. I planted one plant 2-3 weeks later because someone gave me a plant, and that one did not do well, could be another explanation but I think there might be a window.

Thanks. The cold snap was a learning experience. I had not planned on taking such extreme risks. I planted out starting 5 March. Last year I started 13 March and had no issues.

I had just one that survived like your. The rest lost their growing tip. Maybe the will grow side branches.
