Here is a copy of the email I received, word for word:

Hey Stuart,

I spoke with the man who completed the Bowman Residence floors (his name is Brian Thomas out of Houston). He was incredibly helpful and friendly. Unfortunately our builders didn't exactly follow these directions, and as a result our floors look nothing like the gorgeous floors in the Bowman Residence....alas, here's what he told me.

Step:

#1 )They acid etched the entire surface twice with muriatic acid. He said there are several kinds of acids that can be used, but this is the stronger of them.

#2) They then clean the entire surface to bring back the PH balance with ammonia (then used a shop vac to suck that up which he recommended over mops which can leave fuzz/residue behind). I can attest to that, as our concrete finisher used a mop on our main level and left a mess.

#3)The next step is staining the entire floor. They used Kemiko stone tone stain in black (tortoise shell brown black) here's the link:

#4) They then used ammonia again to clean up the residual stain.

#5) They finished with a two-part polyurethane coating (from Arizona Polymer Flooring) He said they applied the APF 250 first and then the 100 was rolled on as the final finish (it's available in satin or gloss) and he said that specific residence was done with the gloss finish.
