Is there a specific reason you're stuck on leather? A fabric recliner would be easier to clean and may last longer for that reason.

Make him wash his hair for starters, I have leather that is colored and is more than 10 yrs old with none of these problems . As for cracking I see that often where cleaning people use Armour-all to make the leather look nice .

So far, this one has made my list. But, instead of leather, I think I will do Ultrasuede (trademark, not microfiber). I have an Ultrasuede accent chair and the fabric is still perfect. My cat sleeps on it; wine has spilled on it. Nothing seems to damage it. Easy care and wipe ups. Ultra suede and grease are never a good combo.

Actually, Ultrasuede is a good product when used around any kind of grease…our boat seats are Ultrasuede; it is used to upholster car seats…you spot clean using a hand sanitizer…apply lightly and blot well. I have a lovely Ultrasuede coat that goes in the washing machine.
