UK pushing cold wash?

Stopped at Waitrose earlier today to pick up some LFS and powder detergent... almost all of the boxes I saw, including Ariel and Persil, all touted how well they perform at 30 and 40 degrees. I never thought cold/cool water washing would be accepted here... not for all loads anyway.

I absolutely could not see that being popular here on the island. Mold is a big issue here. It stays so humid and nothing ever seems to dry out properly. I have to bleach our bathroom, walls and floor, weekly or mold grows almost instantly. The bathroom never seems to dry out. Just this morning I was washing dishes and I moved a metal canister on the marble window sill to wipe under it... I had done the same a few days ago and this time there was black mold under it! Ugh! I spent the better part of my day bleaching down my kitchen.

I'm a Deep South girl, I know how to clean and keep it that way but this place is driving me to distraction!

A lot of people here, husband used to be guilty of this until I arrived, hang their clothes on drying racks in the house.... nothing wrong with that except it can take DAYS for something to dry and even then it's still damp and the stuff gets put away damp! That coupled with cold water washing? Ugh. Rant over
