I like your idea. The shutters originally are dark blue. I didn't mind them blue however, my husband didn't like it. So he decided he wanted to try something different. Thanks for your ideas.

It's a little challenging with the dark gray roof and the peachy-tan color on the siding in addition to the brick. The house would be beautiful in white or a more taupe color of tan. If you are keeping the siding though, I like the shutters the dark expresso color that you tried. It helps to have a slightly warmer color against the siding, but is still dark enough to look okay with the roof. I know you said you didn't like red, but I think a very deep brownish red would look great on the door. It would stand out but still coordinate with the siding and the brick. Look at the very deepest color of your brick.

I think you have a very good start. I would (if it were my home) put the hardware on the shutters so they look functional. See the photo above for an example of hardware for shutters. It completes the look. Resize the shutters on the doormer above the garage to fit (they are not wide enough to cover the window when 'closed') and paint the garage door the same shade as the siding so it blends right into the siding. Then choose a front door color that is very saturated in a color you enjoy. For example:

Love Beverly's pergola suggestion since the space above the garage needs something. Also, as time/budget allow, look for a garage door with panes across the top that mimic your house windows.
