Back painted glass backsplash is expensive but you could use large format glass tile for a nice effect. As for painting the cabinets get a painter that has a spray booth and has experience doing cabinets, the painter will be able to help you make the decisions on the type of paint . Choosing appliances is by far the trickiest thing. I always recommend to my clients to go stainless and choose each appliance for how you want it to function. Any good appliance shop will give you a discount if you buy all from them so do not get sucked into buying a package but really think hard and long about what you want from each choice.For instance I have a 36” 6 burner all gas Bertazzoni range, a Kitchen-aid double electric wall oven , a Bosch DW and an all fridge/ all freezer from Fridgedaire with builtin kit, they are all stainless look great together and function for how I cook.
