Hello! Thank you very much for asking. It was supposed to be dicksonia antarctica, but it does not look anything like that.

Definitely doesn't look like any Dicksonia antarctica that I've seen. Within a year you'd have had small fronds shaped like the adult plants. If those plants were from spores in 2004 they've got to be something very different. It might be one of the "Filmy Ferns", something like Hymenophyllum neprhophyllum, Kidney Fern. Where did you get the spores from?

I got the spores from Australia, but I can not remember from who. I will keep these ferns as I have had them for such a long time. I will get Dicksonia A. spores to try again. Thank you very much for your suggestion. I will google the pictures of these ferns.

They must have mixed their packets of spores up. A lot of Filmy Fern species grow in the same environment as the Dicksonias but it would be hard to make a mistake while collecting the spores. Dicksonia antarctica is very common in south eastern Australia and Tasmania.

Thank you. I have already ordered a pack of Dicksonia antarctica spores. I used to have a over 1 metre high Dicksonia antarctica in my garden, but it sadly could not get used to the climate here in Japan nor saline spray from the Ocean.
