Wow....a beautiful home! I love that you painted the ceiling, a surface people often neglect. The bench is unique. I hope you have a spot for it. However, the hall is too narrow for a bench. I would not even place a table there.

I would place a large piece of artwork on the wall. Or, you could place a series of diffused mirrors (top left photo that olld submitted). You don't want a solid mirror, as people will be confronted with themselves as they open the door!

You should also replace the rug with something that is longer (maybe a runner). With a blank slate, you could go with something really colorful (bring in the color of the front door, as well as your wall and ceiling).

As an aside, your front mat is also too small. It should as wide or almost as wide as the entire framed area.
