Has anyone painted cedar flooring before or have knowledge about how to paint cedar successfully? We have cedar flooring in one of our closets and we are transforming the closet into a mini-mudroom and had the idea to paint the floor to give it a different look. Little did we know that cedar is NOT easy to paint! After 3 coats of paint and a coat of polyurethane we never got the surface to dry and not be tacky to the touch (and we let it dry for a week so that wasn't the issue) . My husband sanded it all off and we started over, this time painting on primer first. We are now 3 coats into the primer and it's STILL tacky to the touch(?!). Any one have some insight as to what we can use to seal the wood so it will take the paint.
Sheesh...talk about a seemingly straightforward/easy project gone awry! Thanks in advance
