Mold growing in blueberry containers???!!!

Hi, I went to check on my blueberry plants this morning. I noticed there's mold growing in the soil. I removed the top 2 inches of the soil and that's were the mold was growing on. I went thru my most of my plants and removed the top few inches. I'm now panicking because I fertilize them on the 20th and now I don't know if I should fertilize again or wait til next month? Also I think what might of caused it was a few months ago I went under my pine tree and gathered as much pine needles as I can to use as mulch but some how I may of gathered more than just pine needles. Are my plants going to be ok? I noticed there was mold growing under the 2 or 3 inches of the top I removed. Please help.
