It is Daphne laureola. A rare and cherished native in the British Isles. An invasive pest in PNW. I'm guessing that's where you are given that you are also inundated with Ivy.

Thank you for your help floral, I spent several hours trying to match a picture to the Daphne Laureola with no luck :) As for location - we are on Vancouver Island, Canada.

I am not familiar with this plant but the google pics I see appear consistent with the ID. What is throwing you off?

Nothing is throwing me off now, I meant I had been trying to find it for several hours before Florals response with no luck - I doubt I would have been able to figure out what it was without their help ;)

Definitely Daphne laureola, aka spurge laurel. It is bird planted everywhere in the woodsy parts of the PNW and is indeed considered an invasive species in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.

It is typically a tidy looking evergreen plant that resembles a rhododendron, so many gardeners unfamiliar with it leave it in place, thinking it is a desirable ornamental. It is not and thanks to the birds feeding on the berries, it is widely dispersed in both cultivated gardens and wild areas. Removal is encouraged.
