Small Capiz Pendant need to be hardwired?

From the pictures, it looks as though I can suspend the pendant from the ceiling and plug it into the wall. Does it actually need to be hardwired? Thanks.

I purchased this product, had it hardwired, and am very pleased with the result. It is the perfect size for my small bedroom and I found a bright chandelier bulb that lights the entire room.
