Those look like some mighty tasty maters. What varieties are those cherries, I have a couple different cherries that I will market in mixed baskets.

Last year's cherries were: Sun Gold, Sun Sugar, Kazachka, Painted Pink, Purple Bumblebee, Ron's Carbon Copy, Black Cherry, Green Zebra Cherry and Blush. They marketed really well. As you know, they're a lot of work but we can sell everything we can pick. There's much higher demand for cherries over anything else we grow.

It's looking like this year's cherries will be: Sun Gold, Sunrise Bumblebee, Kazachka, Sunchocola, Lucky Tiger, Pink Tiger, Brad's Atomic Grape, Maglia Rosa, Galina's and Riesentraube. This is based on our germination results. We'll see how many make it to plant out. We are also growing some of these for plant sales.

Shell, could you comment on the sweetness of all the cherries you've grown compared to Sun Gold? Are any of them sweeter than Sun Gold?

Thanks

Other than Sun Sugar, none compare to Sun Gold in our opinion. If you actually measure sweetness, I guess technically there are some that are "sweeter" but Sun Gold is unique in it's combination of sweetness and flavor. Some other sweet ones for us (under our growing conditions) are Orange Paruche, the Ambrosia series and Sweet Millions. We always grow some Sun Golds or Sun Sugars. Customers, friends and colleagues want them. Splitting aside, they are great in the mixed box of cherries. These days we grow for good taste, mixed colors and differing shapes. We supplement these with Sun Gold or Sun Sugar.

Thank you for your insight. Sun Gold is at the top of our list as well.
