Hello beegood, I remember reading elsewhere spinosissima roses like Prairie Peace and Hazeldean can be extremely hard to get cuttings to root, I'll see if I can find the link tonight. Would you be able to try digging up a sucker instead?

I consider Prairie Peace is extremely rare and hard to obtain. In the rose breeding world, it is highly, highly desired as it has the unique colour combined with extreme hardiness.

Thanks.The prairie Peace has no suckers but I won't get rid of it till I get something from it to replace it. I will take a bunch of stalks and try to root them. If interested in some let me know. Will talk to the greenhouse guru down the road to see if he can help.

Hi beegood, I am glad you are preserving these amazing roses. I am lucky to already have a small sucker of Prairie Peace, it had to be moved late last year, hopefully it lived through the winter.

My understanding is Prairie Peace DNA is tetraploid, which means it can combine with many of the modern roses for breeding, which is another reason it is so highly desired.

The same college (in Olds, AB) mentioned in the above link was kind enough to sell me the sucker I have. Thank you so much for your offer, if my Prairie Peace does not survive I might end up messaging you. I have had zero luck rooting rose cuttings, but am most certainly willing to try to help preserve this rare rose. From what I last read on this forum Sheila Holmes sold Prairie Peace but she did not have any available due to deer. Not sure what the status is this year.

I cleaned both up real good today and think I will just leave well enough alone for now. When the Hazledean gets more suckers I will take some Wanted a Beauty of Leafland but can't find one anywhere. Does Sheila still sell roses Can't find her website

Thanks for your advice . I will try a cutting with the potato method for the Prairie peace. Kind of late for this year I think as its in full bloom and just beautiful.Still looking for a Beauty of Leafland Will be going to Devonian later this summer and see if they know where I can get help.I think it would be nice to have all three as Hazledean and Beauty of Leafland are the parents of Prairie Peace. Not that I plan on doing anything with them. Just be nice to have them..
