I am really wishing this little growth is the beginnings of Safire indigo returning . It was planted last year and grew fine , with no reason to believe it wouldn't return . I left a trellis to mark its spot . All my other Clem's are at least a foot if not more off the ground . I did read Safire is a herbaceous clematis so different than what I am used to . Is this looking familiar to you of you grow herbaceous kinds of is this a sprouted weed ?

I can return the dead Clem but I am almost afraid to disturb the roots and find it was alive but still sleeping ..
