What material is your counter? Is it stone?

If you have a laminate counter, it is made up of a substrate (usually mdf) covered by laminate. The great thing about that set-up is that you can remove the laminate without having to tear out your substrate - which can be re-laminated as long as it is in good shape. This approach can save you a lot, and allow you to have a new counter for a really modest sum.

Hi, Sybil. I also had a laminate that was bumpy. I used the Giani kit and it turned out great. Mine was a solid mauve-ish color. With the mix of colors on it now it's not noticeable until you slide your hand across it. With the topcoat on it has a smoother feel.
