Do you want to change the one over the sink too?

Does your DH still care? Not to be mean, but if he's lost interest then you can get what you like. :) When you're in the throes of a remodel, everyone has an opinion, but later on...you know, it's less important to him. Freedom.

I like this one (Rejuvenation, comes in nickel as well as clear shade). It feels sort of heavy in black but less so in nickel:

At $399, the second is a bit pricy for me budget, but it has a look I haven't seen elsewhere. In the first I like the shape and the downrid as opposed to a chain or cable or cord.

Haha, Fori. Nah, he gave up on caring about the kitchen. He knows better by now. I like what you found. I even like it in black. Not sure if it's too busy though. The size is right.

Teri, I'm definitely open to changing the one over the sink but I at least like that one there now better than the pendants.

TownLakeCakes, I like the second one, I think I'd like it even better in clear glass, but it's a bit steep for my budget.

I think the size over your sink is good for the pendants too. The space seems to be able to handle a bit larger than what is there.

I'm watchin' this. I need to replace my pendants--they were a rushed choice to get them in for inspection and there's not a lot out there for CA title iforgotthenumber. Maybe we should trade...teehee

Terri, excellent taste. I'm afraid #2 & #4 will show the slightest speck of dust. Love the schoolhouse. I'm always drawn to those. But I don't think it will create the change I'm looking for. Kinda like after a good trim, your hair looks great, but not different. I'm looking to go from long hair to a bob, if you know what I mean.

Hmm, good questions, Terri. I think I want something with an industrial/farmhouse vibe. Nothing with just smooth glass, because I'm afraid any dust will show. Open, round is okay. I like the cage look, but 'chicken wire' is a bit too farmhouse for me. Does that help?

For perspective, here is what is over my dining table, which I LOVE, and an open off my kitchen. I like it because it is lantern/industrial style but it's open and glass free, so nothing to dust!

I would like to see something with a curve (like your DR light or like the one that rebeccamom posted) to bring in the curve of your open shelving along the back wall.

That area is a little feminine and it would be nice to see a nod to that.

I get the chicken wire. I have it in baskets and that is as good as it's gonna get. :) I've been toying with some punched tin, but then I think that is going a bit to "rustic" too.

I think I saw something closer to the lines of your dining room light when I was searching. I'll go searching again.

I think most come in other finish options.

Great thread - I was about to post something similar but found this. I have just about the same light over the dining table and in our small beach condo reno, will be creating a peninsula/breakfast bar. I need some complimentary pendants for over the bar. Good ideas here so far - like the Tolson light from Rejunation. My requirements are no Edison type bulbs (too much glare) and don't care for exposed bulbs of any kind since the DR light has the open candelabra type bulb. Here's a pic of the room cleared out and ready for demo. Banquette seating will replace the railing. Will watch this thread for more ideas. (Sorry if I hijacked)

BarnCatz, love the C&B fixture. I was hoping for something with more of a cage look, but I keep going back to that one you posted. I think part of it is my attraction to that dreamy wood island/console.

JM, you can change out bulbs in some. I think they will look fine with the little rounder ones.

Dang. I had finally decided I wasn't going to have pendants. Now I'm not so sure. I have those same stools at the top of my list. And I discovered some wood ones last night too. The ones I've bookmarked are more modern in feel, with walnut as the wood.

Heres a budget friendly one with an unusual look. Not a good match for your dining room fixture though

I've been searching Houzz, Amazon, Birch Lane, Home Depot, Joss & Main, Lowes, Wayfair and Overstock. They are all carrying pretty much the same thing,

I have a pendant I put in over the sink when we first moved in and I love it. But I can't find anything to go with it. I need at least a flush/semi flush mount for the main kitchen ceiling and "foyer" which are pretty much in the same space.

I currently have an inset fluorescent in the middle of the kitchen and a mini bubble/ball at the front door. UGLY and DATED! I have the giant version of the bubble/ball in my master bedroom in two sizes. :) One in the room and one in the walk in closet. We have 94" ceilings. Not super conducive to hanging lighting. :{

Barncatz, I love that one!! Do you think it would look good in my kitchen with the wood stools from World Market? Can I pull two of those off without changing the one over the sink, even though they are so different? Hard to tell how big it is. It says 12" X 15". Does that mean 12" from top of fixture to bottom and 15" around?

They say its 20.9" long and 12.6 inches wide.

I like it with the new stools because, again, it shares a rustic french country feel in my eyes. I think they definitely would look good together and with the kitchen as a whole. But only you can decide whether these pendants work with the stools and/or the sink light. They're far enough apart but the styles seem different. Is the sink a schoolhouse? Since the sink light is so neutral and simple, a pretty 'working' light, I could definitely live with it.

Just came back from World Market. Over an hour drive, but well worth it for these bad boys. They are super sturdy, and were on sale, so at under $100 each, they're a steal IMO. (Waiting for one more to be shipped). Plus, they even had made-to-fit memory foam cushions for them as well. Now, off to order those pendants to see if it all works together.

I just got a pair of these for over my island and I've gotten lots of compliments from everybody from my electrician to my mother in law, plus I love them. Lamps Plus Open Box has them deeply discounted too ;-)

Lots of good ideas here. I've narrowed my pendant search to these two (for now!). Opinions needed! Trying to coordinate with existing DR big pendant. Again, want something fresh with no clear shades/exposed bulbs (diffused light only). Here is the space again followed by the options. Peninsula will be 102" long and will have a riser (will be bar height not counter height). Thinking I'll use 3 of those same World Market bar stools (great tip). How many pendants over the peninsula? Wall will be gone, railing gone.

Those were both top contenders in my kitchen! I think the Hudson Valley pendants will work better for you.
