I did bring some from Hawaii just like this one from Walmart and Dole plantation.

I used bag rooting.

I have two that I just brought back from the Big Island, Kona a few weeks ago. According to expert growers here on GardenWeb - you can cut off the bottom about an inch away from the bottom. Allow it to dry out well - about a week or so. Dip it in root tone and then plant it into a clear or see through container in the dirt mixture you already know about - planting it at least 2 inches into the soil. water well but do not drown it. Sit it in the sun - but don't let it get too wet for awhile - just damp. When you see the little white roots growing up from the bottom and around the sides of the container - your plumeria is growing well. Plenty of sun and leaving it alone will help it also.

I started growing Plumeria last summer - even some from seeds and this is how I did it and mine survived a winter in the garage with natural window lighting and some heat during the coldest freezing weather. They are happy in the garden sun right now and starting to sprout leaves I think!
