I hope someone from Texas can help you ! I don't think it would have a problem, I think Tennessee sun is pretty hot but of course not Texas hot .. The only thing I can think is it may fade a little bit , but that can be pretty with the old blooms being pale and new stronger colored . Good luck ! :)

Thanks for the links! I remember Jeanne from Conroe. She had some gorgeous photos - wish I could find them. She has a wealth of knowledge about clematis. Havent seen her post here in a long time - wonder what happened to her.....I do have quite a few type !! clematis - really love these large flowered ones. Sounds like in the spot I am thinking of putting the obelisk, I would be better off with planting a type III there.
