So we have an 80s contemporary home that we love except for the honey oak trim. My husband and I keep having the same disagreement about painting the trim vs staining the trim vs leaving it alone. I favor painting (preferably white or off white) and he favors staining darker or leaving it alone. He says when people buy a house like this they expect the wood look and not the painted wood look. Could you weigh in on this? We are having some 35 year old windows replaced and so we are trying to figure out whether to go with the white factory finish on the inside of the windows or a darker stain or match the honey oak. There is so much honey oak!!! I would love to hear everyone's thoughts. I don't want to do something that will make it harder to sell the house in the future (although we do hope to stay here 30 years) but I also feel like the white trim would make the place fresher and brighter which would make it easier to sell.
