SW Natural Choice looks yellow??!

First I tried accessible beige in the living area, but felt like it was too dark. Aesthetic white looks too peachy. From the swatch and looking at photos online natural choice looked perfect. But now that I have it on the wall it looks yellow. I am doing alabaster trim. Does anyone have experience with natural choice, and do you think it ever looks manila folder-ish?

The photo is accessible beige next to natural choice next to aesthetic white. I am painting stair rails alabaster white with a black top rail.

Why not just cut Accessible beige 50%

We have SW worldly grey on our walls if you want something lighter than accessible beige.

Hi there! I would like to know what you ended up choosing. I am thinking about also using Natural Choice in my home.
    please post photos :)

Consider painting the stair rails black/dark charcoal and maintaining the stained wood.

We used natural choice all over and it def pulls yellow in several places

Several years ago we paid for a color consultant to come to our house and it was very worthwhile. We may have been lucky to get the right person and she was able to guide our choices throughout the house . It was money well spent after our many, many, sample quarts of paint that did t work, lol.

Mandy, it looks great! How do you like it as an all over color? It’s my top pick right now for the majority of our home.

I am considering Natural Choice for a north facing bedroom. It seems like a near equivalent of BM Feather Down, maybe slightly less yellow?

From My Perfect color’s site. SW Natural Choice on top, BM Feather Down on bottom.

Greek Villa (left). Compared to Natural Choice (right). Our house does not get a lot of natural light unfortunately. Can’t wait until our build is done and we have way more natural light!

@H D, you are correct in that BM Feather Down is almost a perfect match for SW Natural Choice. Both are in the yellow hue family with Feather Down SLIGHTLY more intense yellow, but probably not much different to make a difference!

Thank you Diana Bier Interiors! This is great to know and I’m relieved I can just use Natural Choice without having to get a color match of Feather Down!

Thank you Amber for the color comparisons, very helpful. Greek Villa looks very pretty too. Please let us know what you end up going with paint wise!

Thanks HD. I have considered just using Greek Villa to match our cabinets, but I feel like I need a tiny more color to help the focus not be solely on interior decorating and hide the daily life of a family of six. My cabinets will be Greek Villa though :)

    They look really nice together!

I agree with Jan to cut Accessible Beige 50%. It’s a great match with Aesthetic White. Example

Cutting a color 50% (or any percentage) is not a foolproof way to get a lighter version of the original color. You could end up with a color that doesn't work at all, and you just spent a lot of $$$ for something you can't use. There are thousands of colors out there; you should be able to find one that works.

Amber - I don’t love it . its darker than i imagined and almost looks peach near the trim in some places . I think my extra white trim and low natural light come into play . I think white duck with pure white trim would have been better .

Sorry to hear Mandy. What wood and stain did you use for your floors?

They are a natural hickory floor . I think the touch of blue in the extra white trim is bringing out tones i do not care for . I am currently repainting the trim pure white and deciding on benjamin moore dove wing or seapearl for downstairs .

Maybe? Pure White and Greek Villa are my top choices for trim to pair with Natural Choice. Our cabinets are Greek Villa, so I will more than likely go with that for trim too. It gives it a tone on tone look.

Whats the concensus on SW pure white vs natural choice.

Janet, they’re very different. Natural Choice is a light neutral, it’s not considered a white due to chroma and lrv. Pure white is a white.

Color names don't tell anything about what a color looks like. Just because it's called "Pure White" doesn't mean that it is the purest white and doesn't have a hue. Both colors are in the yellow hue family, with Natural Choice being slightly more yellow and slightly darker than Pure White. They probably would work together because the difference in colorfulness (Chroma) is more than .2. NC has a chroma value of 1.0 while Pure White is .4, for a difference of .6. This would give a nice contrast if one were used on the walls and the other on the trim.

Try looking at them together on your walls with your lighting and see if you like the effect.

Did you use natural choice with Greek Villa? Please share pics! I’m considering going natural choice cabinets along side my Greek villa walls
