Shutter dilema

Hi. I'm looking to update the look of my house. I no longer like the burgundy shutters. In fact I hate them. I want to change them but can't seem to find another color that both goes with the green and that I like. I was thinking of removing them or just painting them white. What do you think? I do not have a good eye for color or style

Look at Linen from Alside or I'm sure same sold by others..... not stark white yet clean

I think they would look best removed.

Bradley, may be true yet I think the house is terribly dark without some pop from them?

White would break up so much of the dark color...it would look great..try one set. I would not remove them they add character..

I'd just remove them, especially since they're too small. ;)

Thank you so much everyone. I see what you mean about the shutters adding character. As to the shade of white, will it clash with my stark white wood framed windows if I don't stick to the same color? Since my house is dark green should the white color for shutters have a hint of yellow, tan, green?

you might have somebody come out and show you sample options. Doesn't mean you have to go with them. Linen would be just off white (no yellow) in my opinion and be nice with white trim against the green home.

Fantastic advice! Thank you so much.

I don't mind a dark house, the white trim already there is enough for me. maybe someone can do a mock up for you.

I would remove them altogether. Your white trim looks nice as is.

I would consider black. it will make the dark green look much lighter plus gives you a very design-forward look. Accessories theporch with other clack accents or add a black and white printed cushion in three rockers.

I think the black shutters would look newer also. Also try them in the panel style instead of the louvre type. I think that would also update it a lot! I think the style of your home calls for the shutters! I love an old home!

The shutters are not properly sized. Remove them. Your white trim is enough to enliven the house.

Oh boy now I'm confused. Does anyone else think black would update and liven the house? I would have never considered it. I see what you mean about using panel instead of louvre shutters.

You can alway to to Home Depot or similar they have a sample board at least if not the shutter and take it home and hold it up... there is a program on Alside.com and you can try it there as well....I personally would have to see it. It's a cute house and feel it needs lighter yet you will get an idea with the program or going to get the sample board before buying. I wanted to try with my program to see what a yellow door would look like with the green if you went the black route with shutters yet I'm off to do some work outside of the house will try this evening if another doesn't do it for me before with their own program.

You can paint them to match your trim or take them off the home.

    I vote to remove them.

They should be removed they are the wrong size and IMO look cheap next to the really nice trim around the windows.

I see how the white looks agains the house. It's doesn't seem to add to the house. Here's a picture with the morning light. I will try the program myself. Great program!!

That trim around your windows is really nice. I think you should remove the shutters to highlight it. Great house!

That's great! So much better without the shutters. I always dress up my porch with baskets and planters. I think this will be the best decision. Thank you everyone! I've learned so much from you.

Looks so much better already without the shutters!

    Great decision!

Your home would be improved by letting those tightly-clipped ball shrubs grow out a bit, for a more natural look.

So glad you decided to remove them! I love the stripes on your porch floor. Is you ceiling painted haint blue?

Pull out the ball shrubs and install a more airy and open landscape. Here are some ideas from homes with porches similar to yours. Also some color ideas for the future.
