Antique Porcelain sink repair

Hello everyone! I have a beautiful hand-painted porcelain sink in my house that I would like to restore. The issue is that is has a couple cracks. My contractor is saying that once it's cracked it's a goner and I need to get a new sink basin. The crack goes all the way through. Does anyone have any experience or advice? I have been looking for a professional repair person who specializes in this but no luck. I'm in Brooklyn, NY
