Houston TX has The Great Rug Company where we purchased a rug. They gave me contact info for Daltonian who supplies them with a mechanically frothed polyurethane pad. I talked to Gary at Daltonian and he says this pad will breath, does not leach chemicals and won't discolor. They've made it for 28 years and it is safe for LVP. It's not skid proof but does a reasonably good job of staying in place under a front door rug. In my living area where the rug & pad is anchored by furniture it works fine.

The rug is definitely to small. You can notice it according the chairs you are forcing to move them inside the table to admit running the chair legs off the rug. You should install the candelier more central, turn the table into horizontal and choose a more big carpet which you put also horizontal under table. An oval rug could suit too but therefore you need to see the other rooms. When you search for a rug, ask the carpet shops in your area also for a Bidjar. They could suit. Bidjars are handmade persian rugs, very strong knotted and strongest persian (!) wool, the durability is for hundreds of years... Its a very nice classical carpet. The lovers for these carpets are in majority Professors. If you think to buy one, and you look for real high Quality, ask for " Farhadian & Sons " Bidjars. But there are also other carpets which would suit into your great home. Maybe "Ziegler" carpets from Afghanistan, also very nice carpets.

Some of the things that affect the price of a rug are: Material rug is made of (wool or polyester) Hand-knotted vs hand-tufted (hand tufted is made with a machine) Name brands carry higher prices Vendors can price things differently (we sell rugs at factory-direct prices, whereas rug showrooms will have more overhead and therefore price their rugs higher) Size affects price (but in your case both are 5x7)

A patterned wool rug in this palette would work well in your room--cozy for your toddler, wears well. (Not necessarily this rug.) If this is your child's play area, then graduate to a cubby bookcase for TV and baskets for toys. Can those wall panels be removed? All those diagnoals are dizzying and will compete with rug, toys, etc. A plain wall would be better.
