    We used 1 1/2" threaded rod for the vertical metal pieces.

    1 1/2" threaded rod for the vertical metal pieces....some type of flange @ the bottom(to rest on floor). Show picture @ HW store.

    I have done projects like this with reclaimed wood and ACME threaded rod. It is a cool threaded rod with a course thread, used most commonly for industrial applications, machining, like vices etc. Google ACME threaded rod. Like this. https://www.nutty.com/Acme-Threaded-Rod_c_491.html    It can be purchased from Mcmaster carr as well as a lot of other suppliers. They make right and left handed threads, you need to make sure you get the correct ,matching nuts.
