Why is this called white?

The picture appears to be black, assuming the light bands are "white". is the dark area black?

    "White" in this case means the technology that this fixture has. Tunable white
    technology allows for you to control the light via Wifi and lets you
    change the color of the light from a soft yellowish light all the way up
    to a cool blueish white color. With the same
    remote can you dim the light (each tier separately) without having to
    install a separate dimmer switch. You can control these functions via
    the remote provided or through the app Mi-light on your smart device.
    You can control several VONN fixtures with the same remote
    simultaneously.

    I don't see the power connection in the pictures. Is the power line on one of the suspension wires or is there a pipe that is not shown?

    Yes, the electricity runs through the adjustment wire. No separate power wire!
