PGT Winguard versus CGI Sentinel

Having trouble deciding which one to go with. Pgt I love their choice of grids you can put on the windows whereas CGI only has the one choice. But I heard CGI is a better product. Would love to hear opinions as to why you went with one over the other and if you are happy with them. Also you can choose clear, grey, bronze or low e for both of the companies as far as glass color. I want clear because I love a bright home but most places are telling me I should go with a color thoughts? Thanks

Where is the home. There is zero reason that you should have a new piece of glass, in this day and age, without some sort of Low-e coating.

I am in florida. I dont like the green tint that the low e glass has.

I have plenty of customers who hate the green glass as well, but it’s required in most states now and it’s hard to get a permit (if required) without it. The benefits of Low-E can’t be matched with bronze or gray tints.

I appreciate that you don't like the look, but do keep in mine that clear glass will have a natural green tint as a default. If you get the medium SHGC coating, the impact isn't that bad and we have plenty of visually sensitive clients that were concerned that remark that they don't even see it after about a week or so.

I do have a sample of the clear glass and it does have a green tinge to it. I currently have clear glass the windows are about 20 years old did that glass have green too or is this a new thing with clear glass? Thanks

Much thinner glass back then. Float glass will normally have a greenish hue to it.

Pgt are known for their impact products from what i remember. Seems to be a decent window.

I spoke to someone this weekend that got all pgt doors and went with cgi windows and he said the windows have been a nightmare he wishes he never got cgi. He said you cant even get a hold of anyone since pgt now owns cgi you cant find anyone to fix the problem three of the windows have broke some have scratches and now he is stuck with them. He also worries down the road if you need a part you wont be able to find it. Pgt on the other hand he said is great with customer service for anything that is pgt but they are not handling anything when it comes to cgi.

Rebmarketing i am looking at cgi sentinel and pgt 700 series they come in pretty close in cost. Which one is better? Thanks

Very very similar, PGT is having Les issues with production. CGI has a nicer screen.

Are usually keep my people in PGT. They own CGI but it's a different mentality one is in Venice and the other is in Miami so the work ethic is completely different.

We are replacing our windows from hurricane Irma. Choice between CGI wind-guard and CGI Sentinel. Do you still recommend CGI? Thx

Can anyone get me a picture of a CGI sentential etching on their glass, please?
It should be in every corner of CGI impact glass on the inside.
