Thaiperfect_gems on Ebay

last modified: 9 years ago

My Petchsayrung finally did arrive. It's tiny compared to my other grafted plants. About 1 inch at most at the thickest part of the caudex and root. It had two bad spots on the roots that were black so I alcohol sprayed the roots and cut them out, alcohol again, then sealed with super glue. I'll give it a few days in dappled shade and then pot it up.

I can't say I'm very pleased with thaiperfect_gems on Ebay. It took two months to get to me after ordering it. About twice as long as usual. It is the smallest grafted plant I've gotten so far for about the same price as other orders. All my other grafted plants so far have been 2 to 3 times larger. It also has the shortest grafted branches with not much extra to graft a backup. So I'll wait and see how it does.

I can't really recommend this seller. I'd personally suggest ordering from Rinoa or Adenium Center instead.

It appeared that their postal service takes much longer in February and March. My 1 order already over 45 days and it still in NY. My 2nd order only 20 days and it almost here. I hope my plants will be bigger since I ordered 12 from them.

Hyn, it seems the tip has some brown spots. You might want to take a look and do another cut if needed.

Yep, I was looking at that tip myself. I thought keeping it laying out for a few days before potting it up would allow me time to be sure I didn't miss anything, and think about it.

Maybe about the shipping time, but other things I ordered at the same time, or after it, already arrived way ahead without problems. Plants and seeds both. I sure hope your order will come through with larger, better plants Shang.

Yeah it's a little disappointing but at least you got your plant and it's alive. I've got couple scrawny plants from eBay too, hopefully they will bloom as described. How's flower look like?

You are right, Elena. I did get a plant and overall I think it's healthy despite the couple of small bad spots I had to cut off and seal. I think it'll do fine. The flower should be pretty, blooming yellow with orange-red stripes that may fade to more of a pink and white from what others told me. I actually like the idea if it's a slight color changer as I think that can be really beautiful. So we'll see. It should be good breeding material for hybridizing with other yellows or stripes.

Lovely looking, is it a tripple flower petals?

Yes, it's supposed to be a triple or more layered.

OMG! Words cant describe how upset I am. 5 out od six plants are damaged. The grafted part was so small that it dry out.

Oh my. I am so sorry, Shang. You should file for a refund and if they won't give it to you, file a Paypal dispute. Mine was not impressive but several of yours are just awful. Especially that poor mealy one that looks half eaten by bugs and half dried up. You have my sympathies. Good photo record is a must for a dispute. Alas, Ebay didn't let me leave feedback on my transaction at all once I acknowledged that I had received it. Stupid Ebay.

I already notified the seller plus sent them a bunch of photos. Also, filed a request dor refund. The have until 4/26 to resolve before ebay step in. I will get with paypal next. I hope my 2 package from them is much better. Fingers crossed. I love how they declare the package those

I paid 65 and it worth 12 bucks for them. Lol. The other one is a dollar

Oh.... wow... that is not good...

Sorry you got such a bad plants:( and I sure hope that your second order will be in better condition. Is this an order that took a looong time to arrive?

I bought those 65$ sets of six twice, all plants were good. Not great but not bad either... from different sellers tho. I don't know if they will bloom as advertised but at least they all came in a good shape.

Shang if I don't kill my plants by fall, I'll be making duplicates of all my favorites and I'll be more than happy to share. Right now I don't have a rootstock but as soon as my yearlings will start blooming and give me simple pink, I'll be chopping all my plants! Can't wait to shape my grafted ones, they are so long and ugly right now. But anyways, keep us posted, hopefully you will be able too revive couple of those. :(

Thanks Elena, I will wait until tomorrow to see what are they going to say. Although, the grafted are dead the caudex is pretty good size. I have an Indigo Glade that has very long branches. I will start to graft soon. My seedling are just a few weeks old. It be a very long time before I can do anything to them.

Shang - the Violet City graft, could that be grafted onto another root stock while its still green and healthy since the current caudex looks unhealthy. I love the bloom of the violet city. I got the seeds since I can't import in Australia very easy. Hope you can save all your plants.

I haven't done anything to the plants yet since I am still waiting for their answer. If I cut it off. They might say return is voided since you cut the plants.

Since we come to an agreement that new plants will be sending. I will start to treat the roots stock and hope my second order is much better. It should arrive today.

So glad to hear this Shang. I have found myself in this position before and no one likes to complain and I did not like having to open a claim, but it was my only way of safeguarding myself and the money I had spent.

Problems can arise, but it is the only way to keep the sellers "Honest" and to make it better for all purchasing through them. If situations such as yours are resolved in the fashion that they seem to be, then this is a good thing.

Very pleased for you and the prospective outcome.

Below images are very painful to watch, viewers discretion is advised

Although you cant see it clear. Black fungus has settled in. Only the small middle section is green, so I covered the base with rooting powder, turmeric powder, and cinnamon powder. Let it sit in the miniature green house. The section is small so leaving it out to dry will send it to the other side much quicker.

the last photo graft is 99.9% dried. There is .1% green left. If I cit the dried up part off it will kill it for sure, so I sprinkle it with turmeric and cinnamon powers. Hopefully, with their combined powers they will bring my plant back to live. My hope is flat on the ground. I am well prepare for their departure to the other side.

I couldn't go on with the other three. Right now they are in a solution I wiped up for them.

    to be continued...

Good luck with it, Shang. I am so glad that they agreed to replace it. As I sell plants myself, I don't want to accuse a seller of wrong doing without good reason. Yours certainly looked pretty piss poor though. Hopefully your next batch will be much better. Violet City is pretty!

Hyn, I am happy too that they willing to replace without further questioning. They are two days shy to sent out a replacement too, since we thought the package was lost. Sometimes when we open a package and expect for a live plant, but instead found a damaged plant that dry, rot, and no green, we tend to said thing we didnt mean to said to let the steam out. The purple is what attractived me to buy the group. I hope no more supprise like this.

Sellers on ebay don't like disputes, they rather sand again to avoid any complains. So glad you getting new plants. All the best with them and hope you can revive some old batch.

2nd order arrived. the plants are small, but Seemed fine.

The all fit in a small fish bowl lol

Order from Thailand is risky business.

Depends on who you order from. Some are safer than others. My larger orders have only gone with very reputable sellers everyone else seems to love. Worst case, both Paypal and credit cards payments can be disputed (if you don't fall for the friends and family gimmick.)

Marie, it a risk we all have to take in order to obtain nicer flowers.

Hyn, plz share the reputable sellers from ebay so we know who to order from. And the one we should stay away.

I planned 5 of them together. Hopefully when they become active and putting out longer branches, I will go buy bigger roots stock to regraft them.

I have to keep Majestic separate to ensure he is well behaved lol.

Shang, I am sure Marie knows of ordering, as she has quite an extensive collection of mature plants. Her plants are so beautiful and she is a wealth of knowledge.

My best experience for plants via eBay has always been Adeniumcenter (Kukuan) & Anyamanee (not sure if she is still active. The majority via eBay that are selling a multitude of other items are ones I would not even look at.

If you want some nice plants, other than TS or Arabicum. Give Anucha Hiransirilak via Facebook a message. He has some wonderful plants for bloom & plant type.

You can go to king Adeniums web site they have a list of sellers you should not buy from

    roger

Thanks Rick & Roger. It does seemed that I get my orders faster with King Adenium. I ordered mostly seeds from them. I haven't order from Adenium Center due to their price is much higher then Thai Perfect Gem. I am mostly after their grafts then the root stock itself. Nice root stock is a bonus for me.

    Shang I sent you pm

So far I'm pretty happy with Adenium Center, Orient Adenium, and King Adenium. All three have really great reviews from people I actually know, not just their Ebay feedback. So far I've gotten really good product from each of them.

I've also gotten excellent seeds with roughly 100% germination from Best_Plumeria (they also sent generous extra) though I haven't ordered any plants from them. The same with Mr. KO - I've mostly gotten very good seed though the bad batch I did get he didn't replace. I also hear great things about Siam Adenium but I think I remember reading you may only order from them if you make purchases of $350 or more at a time. All of these have real webpages so you don't need to purchase from them using Ebay. In Mr. KO's case, his website prices are usually much better than his Ebay auctions.

Less than my concern about the sellers is using good practices ourselves. Check their feedback and only use means like Paypal (but /not/ friends and family) or use a credit card, because if there is a serious problem you always have a recourse to dispute it and reverse your charges. Don't use Western Union, or Paypal Friends and Family as you have little or no recourse if you get screwed over. That should be a red flag to warn us off of sellers who only accept those latter two payment options.

Otherwise I don't think it's a big deal to risk small purchases from unknowns as long as you use payment methods that allow you to protect yourself.

Thanks Hyn for the info. I heard that TPG used different usernames on ebay. I emailed Mr. KO but he has not answer. The only type I am after now is the Dorset Horn. PMed Tracy and she has not reply. I haven't see her responses in awhile. I am happy with the colors I have so far. I have approximately 100 seedlings now and just started another 100 3 days ago. Next week I will be busy repot my first batch of seedlings. It starting to pit out it 3 sets of leaves.

Shang, Contact either Comsan Can or Anucha Hiransirilak on FB (if you use). They usually have or will have the DHA 3% or DHA 100% seeds available. I will send a note to Tracy to ask her if she could look in on this thread. She is busy with her plants and her FB Page.

    Rick

They both sold out. Hopefully some one cancel ther reservations.

Go for the DHA 100% Shang. I bought DHA 2-3% of Comsan Kan, and out of 138 seeds only 2 have the DH trait.

When he announces them on FB you have to be very very quick though, they're usually gone in no time.

Ah, I would be interested to know what other names TPG uses. Let me know if you find out, Shang. Thank you. Are you on Facebook, Shang? Ram Adenium sometimes has DHA available, and a few other people. I'm on several adenium groups there, same handle: Hyn Patty of Athens, GA if you care to friend me there.

I got ahold of comsan kan. Waiting for him to send me an invoice. Ram Adenium only written in Thai, have no clue what he said. I try to look you up in FB but can't find you. My nick in FB is shangmeo. The avarta is a black pig holding a sword.

Haha, that's what Google Translate is good for. ;) I'll go look you up! I sent a friend request. My regular page is located here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008865947213 and I also have Ornery Pony Studio on FB and Etsy. Once we both get our grafts going well later in the summer, maybe we'll do some trading later since you are practically my neighbor in FL. If that should interest you.

Hyn, I accepted your invitation. I am all in with trade scion / cutting. By June or July, my plants should be ready for cutting.

Hyn Patty, Western NC Mountains (USA) thanked Shang FL09
  • 9 years ago

BTW just bought 22 DHA seed with a chance of getting a golden DHA from Comsan.

My YaYa did make it. The yellowing continues to go down into the caudex. I have to cut it off. I grafted one of my unknown flower to the root stock. I used the super glue method you have suggested Hyn. Hopefully I did it correctly and the scion takes.

Good luck with it, Shang. I hope it takes for you!

So far so good. Thenew growth came with the scion.
