My pooches will not eat watered kibble. I avoid canned food b/c if concerns re: excessive dental tartar and subsequent problems. I feed them TOTW.

My dog has just started eating a little kibble a few times a week. She normally eats Homemade do to IBD..I ask the vet recently if I should wet it, her response was wet food, kibble, canned and homemade contributes to tooth and gum problems...true or not I don't know but I've been feeding it dry.

Mine is perfectly happy with kibble straight out of the bag. In fact, he will sometimes help himself to it if I am gone for any length of time......like there was any risk he could starve to death before I returned home!! Lol!

Now and again I do mix in a bit of canned food or some gravy/leftover chicken or a few chopped veg just for a bit of a treat but quite infrequently.

On the advise of our Vet we started mixing a small amount of soft into her kibble "to moisten it" a bit. He thought it would help with some tummy issues she was having (but it didn't). She enjoys it so much more than the dry kibble, that we just stuck with it. We do use as little as possible, maybe a quarter of a can if that. The whole idea of soft food concerned me because Labs are prone to weight gain, but I decreased her kibble a little bit and have factored in the K-Cals from the soft food into her alloted portions.

Add a little water to the kibble.

Been doing that for fifty plus years with Collies, Bulldogs, and now a Greyhound. Never had a dog that needed its teeth cleaned. (All of my adult dogs are seen by my Vet twice a year and their teeth are checked along with everything else.)

Side fact. Greyhounds while at the track are fed soft food - frequently horse meat based, laced with hormones and "home-brew" nonsense. When their racing career is over, the luck ones are neuter/spayed, checked for parasites, and most require a tooth cleaning and descaling - done while being neutered.

Fortunately, most of these Greyhounds are transitioned to a quality kibble after they get to their forever homes and most apparently never require a subsequent cleaning.

Of course, YMMV.

I mix dry kibble with boiled chicken. We play a game with kibble, I hide it around my apartment and she has to find it, she's a little yorkie and zooms around looking for it !

I use kibble as "bait," something I learned when I was actively exhibiting dogs. My Bulldogs would salivate for and fix on a piece of kibble just as well as on a armatic piece of cooked liver. (And the kibble does not stain a man's jacket pocket nor a woman's dress pocket. :-) )
