The Pom was the sire, maybe.

that's what i was thinking but for the love of God, WHY????? my former boss bought a goldendoodle puppy about a year ago. he sheds like crazy (dog, not former boss) and he's a yippy, yappy little ankle biter. i saw him recently and he said his daughter was so excited because she was getting a puppy from this same breeder. again...WHY?????

Backyard breeders are crossing all sorts of breeds because it's a "thing" now.

Mutts are great, but please, don't do it on purpose for money!

in the world of great danes, the bybers aren't crossing breeds as much as they are crossing color lines. they are known as "rainbow breeders" and are pumping out litter after litter of off-color danes and selling them to unsuspecting buyers as "rare". just makes me shake my head in disgust!

OH! you may be right - I hope you are right, the Pom was the sire. Surely someone wouldn't be so abusive as to make the Husky the sire. I've been thinking and worrying about it ever since I read the ad. Thanks.

And please tell me why such a cross breeding would come with a $3500 price tag!! I wouldn't be inclined to pay that much for a purebred dog with excellent bloodlines unless I was on the show circuit. If the crossing occurred naturally - and non-neutered dogs being non-neutered, that could certainly happen - the owners would have a tough time giving them away, much less asking a ridiculous price for them!!

Anyone paying this for these unfortunate puppies is just supporting this sort of ill-advised breeding program........if it was intentional at all. Just say "no"!!

I've seen dogs labeled "miniature huskies" for sale in same said paper. This must be how they achieve it.

I found the ad. God bless her little heart if she went through natural whelping Friday. Surely not. Current or new owner hopefully paid for a caesarean.

It seems it is one of the new designer dog fads ... a Pomsky. Lots of info/photos come up in google. It seems the ideal outcome is a dog that looks like a Husky, but has the size of a Pomeranian.

It's horrid to think of the pain that poor dog had to endure, I really hate people that think of a profit before the well being of a animal that is supposed to be a family member, I could really go into a major rant but I wont do it here.

"A Pomsky is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky.
A crossing usually consists of a female Husky and a male Pomeranian.
This is to avoid any complications that may occur if the smaller
Pomeranian were to carry puppies sired by the much larger Siberian Husky male."

So it's true, the Husky is the sire. Whew. That's a relief. Whoever wrote the above ad worded it wrong.

schoolhouse, the ad you posted sure made it seem like the pom was a female, bred to a male husky. If the pom was male, why would a buyer care what he had been bred to? And who in their right mind would pay a fortune for a pregnant bitch that either won't survive whelping, or requires a C-section? I'm flabbergasted.

I just don't understand the crossbreed trend. There are so many breeds out there - it's hard to imagine that a person can't find an existing breed that meets their criteria for a household pet. I guess people are just so enthralled with cutesy names that they don't consider the traits of the offspring. Why do folks automatically assume that a crossbreed will get the best qualities of each breed, instead of the worst? Ninapearl's doodle example is classic. Don't people realize that poodles themselves are terrific dogs already?

schoolhouse, i'm confused. if the husky is the sire, that poor pom is going to have a rough whelping if she even survives it.
