Wow... those are pretty large specimens for California... you get that large or just been growing them a long time?

Those are at the UC Berkeley Botanical garden palmbob. I would guess they have been in those large containers maybe 1-4 years. That last time I was there they had Dypsis decipens in them. So,its possible they were just put it..or have been there for at least a few years.

Still,that they look so good for such a rainy cool winter..

Nice! I have some 2-foot tall ambos planted out in full sun here in Fresno. I'm hoping they do well here with the heat. I planted them in early February and they've already each thrown out a new spear. I was actually a concerned that they would sulk during our cool, wet winters but if they don't seem to mind East Bay weather, they might fare better in winter here than I thought.

The label says 2003.0183 I take to mean it was grown from seed planted in 2003.

They must have lots of D.baronii DNA in them too.

I still want them as potted plants. A nice short trunker in a 15-30 G would be great. No gophers!
