Need suggestions. The property line I share with my neighbor is dominated by a tangled, nasty, gnarly mass of vines. It's hideous. the problem is, my neighbor LIKES it so I can only clear the stuff on my side of the property line, which leaves all the unsightly growth on his side.

What types of bushes or shrubs can I plant on my side that will hedge nicely at 3-4 feet in height? Something that flowers nicely in the spring? Something that is easy to maintain?

I am familiar of course with boxwoods and yews. But those are so mundane anymore. I would like something more interesting.

BTW - I leave in Detroit area (zone 5), the soil is clay-dominant, and the area is mostly full sun, except a couple spots along the line that get shade from a couple of pine trees.
