hello, the electronic key pad housing twists off. there is a little button at 6 o'clock and you squeeze and twist the housing off. you will then place the battery inside there.

The e-lock safes have an override key solution in the case you still cannot access with a code. Always 1st check the battery by twisting off the e-lock front housing and the batter is on the inside.
