It's not the brand, it's how it's made. Brands often have different price points and different quality. That can also determine how well it wears. Lots of comment on Houzz about pilling on Pottery Barn sofas and others.

Lazy Boy used to hold up great and my mom still has some recliners from the 20th century from them that look new. People have told me recently though that they don't make it as well anymore. I have a sofa from Funky Sofa (they are online and you build it to your liking) that I bought in 2003 and it still looks fine. Mine is a microfiber sofa sleeper. When it wears out I'm getting another one from them. Their sofas are awesome!

I've had a Lazy Boy sofa for almost 9 years. Still looks great and is very comfortable. My cats like it too! :-)

I've bought two couches from Carolina Chair, you can find their website. High quality furniture. I've had one of my couches for over 10 years and it still looks and feels new. they can also customize any piece. Like the first poster said, it matters how it's made.
