Top Heavy Mango

I Bought a Home Depot Manila mango about a year ago and for most of the first 7 months since purchase it was in a pot. I planted it once we got into a permanent home and it was always tall and lanky. It has been attached to a stake which the loose tie broke today and the tree bent over to the ground.
It's always been kind of top heavy and I am looking for advise on possibly trimming it down to somewhere above the graft line.
Anyone had a similar issue with their mango?
From the graft line it's about 3ft of tree to the top. I have seen people trim quite a bit off and was already considering it before it bent over..
