Thank you Emory. I am so happy to hear other people have gone through this same dilemma. Unfortunately my shutters have slats and I would imagine would require more work. I" m not sure about that, butter the look that way. I did call Timberline's and yes quite out of my ballpark considering I need 15 sets. Very nice people though. I will take your recommendation of checking local woodworkers. Is cedar the preferred wood? Thank you for your response.

Shuttercraft makes very nice red cedar shutters, IMO the prices are reasonable for the great quality.

As they say"if I had known then what I know now". 4 years ago I loaned my cargo trailer to a fiend whot was doing a remodel. When he finished and called to say he was returning the trailer,he said it was loaded with 10"x1"x8' boards from interior walls he was taking to the landfill. He asked if I wanted any left in the trailer. I said yes,leave about 3 dozen and I'll find a use. Turned out to be Redwood. I sold what he brought for $1,500 and told him later he could have sold the load for more than enough to buy himself a trailer. I wonder how much has been thrown away that could have become shutters.
