Since it is just you, keep the family photos. You might give the kids some large pieces of paper for new artwork to frame. There are frames that open from the front with hinges for easy changes.

I'd look for a new rug that would allow the desk chair to move in and out freely.

let's just say, (1) colorful rug on your new white floor (?) to pick up colors from all the cute art, (2) narrow interesting bookcase instead of tray table, (3) a real desk light, and then put the floor lamp behind the chair.

With such an intimately sized space, I agree with @apple_pie_order in replacing the busy gallery wall with a larger piece. Personally, I like color, especially in a neutral-toned room -- it adds a sense of punch and personality that literally lights things up.

I love a giant map wall. These murals come in all different colors & I just think they are fun.

I LOVE your gallery wall BTW. I would hang it vertically on the wall that the door is on so that you can enjoy it while you are working.

Yes. Except vertical. I just love all your pictures and think they would inspire right there. Then put up one large feature on desk wall. My friend actually purchased the map & stapled it to a wood frame like a canvas & hung one that way. That would work better for that type of wall. Or you could do a giant black chalk wall?

Hi Lisa! Since it's a small space maybe you can make it bigger with some geometry pattern. It will add some depth to your place. And with stripes it is a piece of cake – vertically oriented stripes will optically expand a short interior, and the horizontal ones will make a narrow interior look at the wider.

It will look really nice with gray walls.

@Aleksandra I love the stripes idea so much as I had that in mind but thought maybe it will be too much considering size of room - something like this on just one wall - but was not sure weather to do it on the window wall or the main solid wall

Definitely, with one accent wall, it will be enough :) I think it will look good on the main solid wall. You just have to remember to put any wall mural on smooth walls. It's really important :)

@VRA these are gorgeous I must say love the first pic challenge is how it's setup the space two solid walls on each side with open space on the middle.

i love mirrors so this gives me an idea.... the one wall am going with the strips for sure and will put art gallery on small wall . But I have wall where shelf is also

@Lisa Malopa I think you don't need a pic gallery. It would be so nice just with a mirror :)
It will look brighter with some light drapes and delicate rods (white or gold maybe?).
About stripes, it depends on what you want to achieve with them. With vertical, your room will look taller and with horizontal, you will get some extra space :)
