Pantry Cabinet

For those that have pantry cabinets in your kitchen, would you mind sharing pics of them opened? Can they house tall cereal boxes chips pretzels, same as a closet pantry? And are shelves inside adjustable? Also, what do you store in the roll out drawers? Thanks in advance!

My pantry cabinet is being installed as we speak! It seems way bigger than it looked in the picture. I have 4 roll out shelves in the bottom half and I think 3 normal shelves in the top. I think that the fixed shelves are adjustable but not the roll outs. I will try to take a photo and post when they finish it.

I think that I will keep the smaller things in the roll outs and larger things like flour, cereal etc on the fixed shelves. But right now it seems so big that I won't need the top half :-) Im saying that I will never fill it up, but I'm sure that I actually will before long.

I am so excited for the size of mine! Its a little ways off yet but so excited for it! What are the dimensions of your pantry Sue?

My pantry cabinet has roll-out shelves that are easily adjustable so yes, they can be adjusted to fit tall items. I believe I paid extra for the adjustable-shelf feature. I started out with four roll-out shelves and ended up ordering a fifth after my cabinets were installed. It's just my husband and I so all of our pantry items fit on those five roll-out shelves; I keep other non-food things in the upper portion of the cabinet.

I used a tall 30" IKEA cabinet for my pantry. It has stored more than my old 36"X 84" pantry with wire shelves pullout. That old pantry cabinet was expensive and useless. One entire side was used for noodles which is now only one drawer in my design.

I chose where to put the drawers for maximum usage. Right now, everything we need is in this pantry and the bottom two drawers are empty as well as most of the top two drawers.

The shelf is a slide out in case I need things in the back but it hasn't been a problem. The toaster oven will eventually be on the shelf on the right.

The cabinet is 24" deep and each drawer holds a lot.

Yes I'm terribly embarrassed that we have an entire drawer of snacks vs food. Hubby is the one who eats 90% of it.

I always cook fresh food every day or shop in my freezer. I rarely eat prepared food except for ramen.

Beachem, what I see is a prudent person who stocks up on snacks when they are on sale. No judgement here!

I didn't get roll outs in the tall pantry. The shelves are adjustable, 3 in each section. 24"x24"x96". I do own another house with roll outs in the island. So you can see what people put in roll outs, here's a pic:

I've lived in houses and apartments with cabinet pantries since the day I was born (a long time ago). Shelves have always been adjustable in height but not roll out. We store items like cereal and paper towels at head level (easier to reach up and grab); soups, noodles, pasta sauce waist to head level; less frequently used items (for us) like flour and sugar and stock pot at waist to knee level; and sodas water and heavy appliances on the bottom. When putting items into a 24" deep pantry shelf we just arrange them in a U shape so you can reach in to get items in back. The roll outs would eliminate reaching in but they reduce the storage space.

I don't have photos handy, but my IKEA pantry cabinet is 30 inches wide, standard 24 inches deep. The bottom portion (from counter down) is actually two 15" high, 30" wide drawers. One houses our cereal, including the largest boxes you can buy, standing upright. The top portion of the cabinet (from counter up) has two doors, with shelving up high and two roll out drawers on the bottom. We use those for pasta, canned goods, etc. Works great!

Great to know Kathryn! Thanks for sharing :) When you get a moment would you mind taking a pic of both inside and exterior of cab and sharing? Would love to see how the taller food items fit in there. Thanks!

You're in luck... I happened to just get home and grabbed a couple photos. Ignore the painters tape handles and mess. We're still finishing up the details of the remodel. Let me know ofnyou need anything else.

Love those! Do you happen to have the IKEA link to them?

The nice thing about IKEA is that you can do custom layout. I used the same IKEA cabinet as Kathryn but did custom doors/drawer front for my pantry.

Here's mine open. Nothing in there yet The shelves are adjustable but I don't think that the pull outs are. I just got home to see they were in, haven't really checked them out yet
