Cabinet door issues

They've been working on installing our cabinets, and I noticed that there is a gap at the top of the lower cabinets where you can see inside, like the door isn't high enough. I had assumed that they could be adjusted, but the contractor says no. I know that the contractor will make it right, and they are confident that the cabinet company will make it right, but just want to make sure that I'm not being too picky? Not sure how well you can tell from the photos..... I can't believe that this isn't a mistake, but maybe I'm crazy?

I don't believe you are being too picky at all. Could they be on upside down?

    The doors can be adjusted.

Show us the hinges! I betcha they CAN be adjusted and if they can't, they are just plain WRONG.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I don't think that they're upside down because I looked inside and there is a sticker on the door that is right side up. Also one is a pullout. Doesn't have hinges, so not sure that is the problem either, Here is a photo though

Simply loosen the two screws on the hinge mounting bracket, pull the door up, tighten screws.

Yeah, and make the GC or cabinet installer do it because it's a pain to make everything line up and it's part of what you're paying for. :)

The front of the pullout can be adjusted too. I bet it was installed low to match the others.

If they can be adjusted (which I would be surprised if they cannot)

Don't worry about it now - this is normal. Once the counters are installed, etc., your contractor will go around and adjust all doors. That's one of the last things they do - at least it was for our remodel.

Edited to add: Are you sure they cannot be adjusted?? Most hinges are designed so they CAN be adjusted b/c most doors will need adjusting over time...

I'm a little concerned that the contractor has already said they can't be adjusted....

    What is your cabinet "brand"/manufacturer?

Do the hinges have a manufacturer name on them? If not, do you know the manufacturer? (Or, maybe your contractor knows.)

The cabinet brand is candlelight, the hinges say "blum". It seems that they can be adjusted to make doors even, etc, but maybe they can't adjust to make them high enough, not sure. Someone from the cabinet co is coming over today, so if there is a way to adjust I'm sure we'll find out how. If not, I'm going to insist that they send new doors or something. It just makes them look wrong. The contractor had already called the rep to come over before I even saw anything, so hopefully it will be taken care of.

Blum is an excellent quality hinge and completely adjustable.

    That's good news, thanks!

Thanks again for all the helpful advice. The cabinet guy was just here, and addressed all of my concerns. He doesn't know what happened with the 5 doors, they just seem to be too short. Getting new ones and also replacing a couple that were slightly damaged in shipping. Good news is that we can keep moving forward and just change the doors out when they are in.

That's good. Blum are about as adjustable as hinges get, but they do have their limits. (I have the T-shirt from that!)
