Groundcovers for low light conditions.

I live in southern New England and I am in zone 6b. This area on my land receives about 1 hour of direct sunlight everyday. I tried planting White Dutch Clover in this area, but it eventually died (I'm assuming because there was not enough sunlight.) I have no clue what to do with this area, can anyone suggest a ground cover that is also a perennial and tolerates low light conditions?
