yes... katydids. I got them and battle them all the time. Their coloration allows them to hide rather well.

I'm curious what you found...lots of these little katydids? I really don't know but I would have thought grasshoppers and katydids would eat the leaf from the margin, not make a hole in the middle. Again, that is not fact-based, just an inference based on the mouth parts being opposing jaws that would seem more suitable for attacking a leaf from the margin.

I do know for a fact that the critter in the photo below will make hole in the margins and in the middle of a leaf. Have you seen any of these?

Of course, it could also be earwigs; but the photo showed katydid.

have not seen those things. i just went out again and saw 2 more of those green things and i also found this... I hosed it off again really well before the sun gets high. Im getting so discouraged. Is my tree so unhealthy that everything is going to eat it?

I do not know what those eggs are. The spider is a daddy long legs and is a good guy that eats insects. Slugs come out at night and make holes like that in leaves.

Slugs and snails did that to my grapefruit last season.

I just Googled katydid eggs and they sure look like the eggs in the photo you shred....squish em and look for more!
