I recently decided to try and put a skirting on my deck but I'm not 100% sure how this should be done with a cantilevered. I attached a mock at what I was thinking.

First put up horizontal rails so that I have something to screw into on top and bottom.

Second, add the vertical planks, cutting them so they span from the ground, until up to the bottom of the floor joists, but not touching them.. There will be a gap where you could, technically, get under there and look over the planks between them and the floor joists. Is this an issue?

When I reach the big supporting 2x12 boards (seen in the first picture), would you just rip the planks to cleanly go around it. (not going up between the gap in the big 2x12s.
