A picture helps.... Are you putting in undercabinet lighting??? That will reflect more on a shiny surface. Is the tile marble or ceramic??? There are maintenance differences for those materials.

I'm putting in under cabinet lighting. Sorry nothing is finished now. My house is 1920's old and there is a lot of matt hexagon tile in bathrooms. Can I do matt with my granite in kitchen? I have a polished black granite. I tried marble but it's too sparkly for my more casual home.

perhaps you can get a sample of each from the tile store and set them against the wall and know better what you like.

I like a matte backsplash, as long as it's sealed well. There's no strict right answer, though, just preference, so getting samples into the same space with the counters will be your best bet for deciding.

I like matte as well!
