is this the table that you and your family use every day ? If yes then leave the tray and add serviettes ,salt and pepper shaker on it it will sort of be like a Lazy Susan .

I like the idea of a tray. The table seats 6 (it appears) and this may be slightly small if you want to add to the tray top all I see is a smaller vase with lower flowers or the tray will be lost. You could center it if you love it and do something on ea. side.

A tray such as this would be better for the table.
