Just wanted to add that in the PNW where it rains so much, you might want to consider making the breeze way a little wider than usual &/or consider enclosing it as the rain will blow in and make the walkway slippery & wet. You could likely cut costs with using vintage 2nd hand windows or tempered glass panels for the enclosure as it is not a heated living space and doesn't need to be insulated. If it is just a "dash through the weather" kind of place and dampness is not an issue for you, consider the safety of mom by ensuring the concrete is slip proof.
